The Music Writer’s Lab returned to Brisbane for BIGSOUND in 2023, with a program that featured its first international guest.

Noted journalist and senior writer at Rolling Stone US, Brittany Spanos, joined The Music Writer’s Lab from New York, where she met with and collaborated with the 2023 cohort of emerging writers and mentors across the day-long intensive, as well as various meetings across BIGSOUND week. As part of the official BIGSOUND conference programming, Spanos and project facilitator Sosefina Fuamoli were featured In Conversation.

2022 mentor Rhianna Patrick also returned for a guest Q&A with Fuamoli, while music journalist and author Samuel J. Fell provided an insightful keynote, coinciding with the release of his latest book, FULL COVERAGE: A History Of Rock Journalism.
